Take a tour and register for Therapeutic Massage fall classes Aug. 6

INA, Ill. (July 28, 2014) – Grab hold of your career with Rend Lake College’s Therapeutic Massage program this fall. The program will host an Open House next week for the public and potential students at the new Therapeutic Massage Laboratory and Training Facility, located in the Advanced Technology Center (ATC), Room 200, on the Ina campus. The event is scheduled for 1 – 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6.

The Therapeutic Massage program moved into the state-of-the-art laboratory last fall to help students as they complete clinical work. There will be information provided on therapeutic massage as a career, the many types of massage therapy, and the educational requirements for becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist during the event. Tours of the new lab and training facility will also take place in which visitors can get first-hand experience learning about the benefits of massage therapy, in addition to learning about the equipment used with therapy.

Mike Adamson, Therapeutic Massage Professor, said he hopes the Open House will be the final push for those who are interested in the program to register.

“Our Open House will show all the different sides to Therapeutic Massage for those who want to learn more in the classroom and also for those who want to come and enjoy our services,” said Adamson. “I’m looking forward to introducing our program to those who may not know much about it, but are interested.”

The Therapeutic Massage program prepares students for careers in massage and bodywork by applying principles to muscles and soft tissue. Therapeutic Massage is used to facilitate relaxation, health improvement, and pain relief. Upon successful completion, students are qualified to take the national exam.
