MT. VERNON, Ill. (May 13, 2014) – As little as one year can put a career in cosmetology in reach through two training programs enrolling now at the Rend Lake College MarketPlace in Mt. Vernon.
Two specialized programs, Cosmetology and Nail Technology, are now enrolling for the Fall 2014 semester. Housed at Studio RLC in the MarketPlace, the start dates are Aug. 20 for Nail Technology and Aug. 26 for Cosmetology.
Daphne Mitchell, Director of Studio RLC, said the two programs are great starts to a wide range of careers. Nail Technology consists of four classes that can be taken in one semester. Cosmetology lasts three semesters, or one full year.
“Our Nail Technology program is only one semester and is a great, quick option to get students out of the classroom and into the workforce,” said Mitchell. “Cosmetology takes a little longer, but can open up huge job opportunities, including working in a hair salon or opening your own business. There really isn’t a limit to the places cosmetology can take you.”
Nail Technology courses focus on manicures, pedicures, nail tips and wraps, gel nails, nail art, acrylics, professional image, customer service, business skills, and other industry areas. Classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. every other Saturday.
The Cosmetology program covers some of the same skills, and also includes shampooing, cutting, coloring, styling, and the latest trends. Classes are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the same times every third Saturday.
