INA, Ill. (Sept. 30, 2013) – Training for a new career or your first career is available close to home, and Rend Lake College invites everyone to come out and see what programs are available at an open house showcasing its career technical programs.
Potential students and family members are invited to explore a number of programs at Rend Lake College during the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Open House, which will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Student Center.
During the event, students can ask questions, gather tips on obtaining tuition waivers and scholarships, and find the right fit for them at RLC. Many of the programs being showcased result in an Associate in Applied Science Degree or an occupational certificate in two years or less, preparing students for direct entry into the workforce. These range from Ag Mechanics to Culinary Arts, Associate Degree Nursing to Computer Programming, and much more.
Faculty and staff from the Allied Health, Applied Science and Technology and Community and Corporate Education divisions will be on hand to provide information and answer any questions potential students and their parents may have about RLC’s programs. Tours will also be available, starting in the Student Center.
“The CTE Open House is a great opportunity to explore quality educational opportunities within driving distance of all Rend Lake College’s district high schools,” said Chris Nielsen, Dean of the Applied Science and Technology Division. “The atmosphere will be informal, and students and parents can come and go at their convenience.”
There will be refreshments and prizes, and a three-credit-hour tuition waiver will be given away.
Additionally, representatives from a number of student services departments will be present, including Academic Advisement, Financial Aid and the RLC Foundation, to help prospective students have an easy transition to RLC.
