MOUNT VERNON, Ill.—Rend Lake College announces a four-session course on basic sign language.
Communication with the deaf through Sign Language is a rewarding skill for the hearing and also helps create wider contacts for the deaf.
Amy Richards will teach basic American Sign Language, how to sign exact English, and will help students acquire an understanding of the culture of the hearing impaired.
Sign Language will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Mondays, March 18 through April 8, at the RLC MarketPlace Room 203 in Mt. Vernon. This class is a great opportunity for teachers to learn the alphabet, colors, numbers, and common items in the classroom. Teaching materials for deaf and hard of hearing will be shared. It is worth 0.5 credit hours/8 CPDUs and the cost is $45.
