Nobbe appointed as Programmer / Analyst
Appointed Nathan Nobbe as full-time Programmer / Analyst effective Monday, Aug. 22. Nobbe earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and has been employed as Information Technology Manager at Sportsblast and as a Network Technician at SIUC.
Alstat becomes Music Coordinator
Appointed Sara Alstat as full-time Music Coordinator effective Wednesday, Aug. 31. She earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music degrees from SIUC. Her prior employment includes serving as Office Manager for Alstat Wood Products in Murphysboro and a stint with Timber Dinner Theater in Pennsylvania as a singer, dancer and actress.
Credit hours increase, approach record
Learned from RLC President Mark Kern that credit hours for the first day of Fall Semester are up 4.5 percent compared to this time last year. Kern said the college is only 80 credit hours away from breaking the enrollment of Fall 2003, which was an all-time high for Rend Lake College.
Jent property deal closed
Learned from Kern that the purchase of a 2.43-acre parcel of land located directly south of the RLC MarketPlace in Mt. Vernon from Darrel Jent was closed Thursday. Although there are no specific plans at this point, administrators said this purchase will allow for future expansion of the college. Rend Lake College and its Foundation now own slightly more than 15 contiguous acres at the MarketPlace site.
Board approves 05-06 Student Handbook
Approved the 2005-2006 Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook as presented. The Handbook had been revised and approved by Mary Kay Klimesh of Seyfarth Shaw.
