Area youngsters enjoyed four days of crafting, creativity and creation with an Arts and Crafts camp held June 12 through June 15 at the Rend Lake College Murphy-Wall Pinckneyville Campus. Organizers plan to hold another camp there in July.
Kids molded volcanoes, made lava and created a 3-D media box of a jungle scene using paint, imagination and paper mache. They also painted volcano pictures, made and used binoculars, heard stories about the rain forest, drew pictures on the parking lot with sidewalk chalk, made parrot puppets and monkey masks and created patchwork elephants.
Another camp has been scheduled for Monday through Thursday, July 24-27. It will be led by Courtney Overturf.
Also coming up at the Murphy-Wall Campus is “Animated Story Adventures,” for grades 3-5, to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, June 26, through Thursday, June 29. The camp costs $55. Kids can design their own animated, action-packed stories using PowerPoint and their imaginations. Campers will create tales with objects which actually move, fly or disappear. Campers can take their keepsake compact discs home to share with family and friends.
