Join the Rend Lake College Institute of Lifelong Learning on a breathtaking tour of some of Southern Illinois’ most amazing water gardens on Saturday, July 22.
The Institute of Lifelong Learning (formerly the Institute for Learning in Retirement) will take a trip to seven Southern Illinois homes with “Water Garden Tour.” Water features are today’s hottest trend in landscaping. They are relaxing and provide a tranquility which transcends today’s stressful world. The tour, lunch and transportation are included in the $31 registration fee.
The sight and sound of water has always drawn the interest of people. Water adds an appealing element to a garden. According to the University of Illinois Extension, water gardens can include fountains, waterfalls, small ponds and elaborate combinations of rockwork and lighting. Basically, a water garden is just a pool of water that is home to plants and possibly fish and other water creatures.
