MT. VERNON – A four-day, hands-on workshop designed for small business owners and operators, professionals or other individuals needing assistance with the accounting and payroll software “QuickBooks Pro 2003,” will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, beginning Oct. 24, at the Rend Lake College MarketPlace in Mt. Vernon.
All four sessions – Oct. 24, 26, 31 and Nov. 2 – will meet from 1-5 p.m. Required preregistration for the workshop can be completed now through Oct. 20.
“A working knowledge of QuickBooks Pro 2003 is a great tool for business persons to posses and RLC’s workshop is a great way to obtain it,” said Curt Mowrer, Executive Director of the Rend Lake College MarketPlace and Small Business Development Center.
The presenter will be Clara Mae Wilhelm, Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor and an Accountant with Boyce, Hund & Associates of Mascoutah.
“Her knowledge of the QuickBooks program and her accounting experience make her the perfect instructor for this class,” according to RLCSBDC representatives. Class size will be limited.
The 16-hour class is sponsored by the RLCSBDC and was developed through a partnership between the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs and Rend Lake College.
Participants will learn how to:
• Set up QuickBooks
• Create a new company file
• Work with lists and bank accounts
• Enter sales
• Create invoices
• Receive payments and make deposits
• Produce financial reports
• Work with payroll records
• Use QuickBooks to conduct inventory
A basic knowledge of the personal computer and Microsoft Windows fundamentals is expected for participants. The $150 cost for the four sessions covers the textbook and any other materials provided.
