LINCOLN - The Lynx of Lincoln College clawed their way back to a 61-59 win over the Rend Lake College Warriors Wednesday night in Lincoln. The game ended on a buzzer-beating shot that hit the mark with four-tenths of a second left in the game.
The Warriors led throughout the matchup - by as much as 12 in the second half - but the Lynx continued to be the only foe so far to beat the now 7-2 Warriors. The last time the two played, Lincoln won by 3.
According to Warriors Head Coach Tim Wills, the loss could have been avoided, but his team played well.
"We led the whole game," he said. "We played really well, but we made some mistakes down the stretch and they made the plays they had to make to win. We played good enough to win. We just didn't get the job done."
Four of Lincoln's players ended the night in double digits. The Warriors had two that reached beyond the 10-point mark and were led by sophomore Mark Dannenmueller (Scott City, Mo.) with 12.
"Now, we regroup and get ready for Saturday," stated Wills.
RLC hosts Danville Area College at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2. The last time the two teams met, the Warriors pulled off a win by one point in Danville. This time, the Jaguars will have to face the Warriors at home.
