INA – A new partnership between Missouri Baptist University and Rend Lake College will bring a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice to the area beginning Fall 2012.
The decision to expand to Rend Lake College comes after a high demand for criminal justice course offerings in the Southern Illinois region. RLC’s strong criminal justice program provides another option for MBU students in the region.
“The University is looking forward to creating a more profound presence in Illinois to present more academic opportunities for more students,” said Bill Combs, MBU’s coordinator for Illinois development. “Our partnership with Rend Lake is a positive step in that direction and a response to increasing student interest in criminal justice in Southern Illinois.”
“The partnership between Missouri Baptist University and Rend Lake College makes perfect sense,” said RLC President Terry Wilkerson. “Bringing this bachelor’s degree program within easy reach of our residents adds to the access they have to advanced degrees. We are happy to work with Missouri Baptist to increase the opportunities for affordable higher education in our district.”
The effort marks another MBU site presence in Illinois, joining already existing partnerships with John A. Logan College and Lewis & Clark Community College. By late summer 2012, MBU will provide an advising office on Rend Lake College’s campus for students in the region.
MBU’s Southern Illinois campuses also offer master’s programs in business administration and counseling as well as bachelor’s degrees in applied science, behavioral science, administration of justice, management, accounting, human services and sport management.
