Rend Lake College’s Community Education Department is bringing an exciting slate of classes to Pinckneyville this fall, ranging from yoga to computerized cards for kids.
Begin your golfing education with “Golf Clinic – Beginners,” set for 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 18 - 27 (four sessions) at Red Hawk Country Club with Dan Breslin. Basic fundamentals will be covered including rules and etiquette, as well as instruction in all phases of the game. Safety and key components will be learned including putting, chipping and swinging to help you enjoy the game of a lifetime. The course costs $39 plus the cost of range balls.
Join us in “Basket Weaving: Napkin/Fruit Basket” to weave a 7x7 basket that is the perfect size for napkins or fruit. Participants will get to weave the color of their choice into this unique basket. Bring a yard stick or tape measure, scissors, small flathead screwdriver, clothespins and an old towel to class. This class will take place from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at RLC Murphy-Wall Pinckneyville Campus Room 113. Cost is $16 plus a $10 supply fee. Instructor if Emma Johnson.
“Mommy and Me Yoga” offers yoga for the caregiver and baby, ages newborn to 1 or older if the student feels comfortable holding a baby’s weight in one arm. This yoga class provides a special bonding time for the participant and child. Through specific yoga movements, the adults will build strength and increase flexibility. This is just what a mommy needs to escape from the house and share the joys and adventures of parenthood. “Mommy and Me Yoga” will be held from 6:30 - 7 p.m. over four Thursdays, Oct. 4 - 25, at the Southern Illinois Rehab facility. Instructor is Bonnie Hudgins. Cost is $12.
“Computerized Cards for Kids” will have youngsters designing three great greeting cards using a computer and software. Instructor Patty Epplin will insert graphics from the Internet, use color and special effects to design a border and add a personal touch with the child’s photo. This class is being held from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Pinckneyville Grade School. Cost is $9.
Why tuck photos away in a book? Showcase them in a unique framed collage, complete with embellishments, journaling and creative paper techniques. Whether one is looking to dress up the walls in a home or create the perfect gift for a loved one, “Framed Photo Collage” is sure to highlight those favorite memories. Pull out cherished photos and join the fun! The frame will be dark in color with a design either contemporary or Victorian. Participants will need to bring about seven photos of a common theme or event. This is being held from 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Murphy-Wall Campus Room 113. Cost is $10 plus a $20 supply fee. Instructor is Dawn Gibson.
