Calling all prospective beautiful princesses, noble princes, detestable step-sisters and fairy godmothers. Auditions for the Rend Lake College Theatre's production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella are coming up.
The auditions are set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, in Learning Resource Center Room 107 at the Ina campus. Auditioners should prepare one song with accompaniment (sheet music or karaoke), be prepared to cold-read from the script and execute a few dance steps.
Almost everyone is familiar with this famous fairy tale, which centers on beautiful Cinderella's dreams of escaping the servitude of her evil step-sisters. With the help of a little magic, Cinderella is taken away in a pumpkin carriage to a royal ball, where she and the prince fall in love. However, with the magic spell ending at midnight, the awestruck prince is left only with one of Cinderella's glass slippers. Undaunted, he searches far and wide for the woman who can wear the slipper.
Performances of "Cinderella" will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday thorugh Saturday, March 6-8, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, in the RLC Theatre.
