MT. VERNON – A crash course in QuickBooks is just around the corner for students eager to streamline their business records and make bookkeeping an efficient and hassle-free task.
Rend Lake College presents “Beginning QuickBooks” as part of its Quick Computer Workshops, this spring, at the RLC MarketPlace in Mt. Vernon.
Beginning QuickBooks is an introduction to the program and will teach using QuickBooks Accountant 2008 software. Its main objective is to introduce students to the basic features of the program and give them an opportunity for hands-on, practice.
QuickBooks is a line of business accounting software developed and marketed by Intuit. Small businesses use QuickBooks for most financially-related business processes, from entering sales receipts, tracking expenses, preparing and sending invoices, sales tax tracking and payment, preparation of basic financial statements and reports, and inventory management. The program also includes MICR check printing and options for employee payroll and time tracking. For most tasks, QuickBooks doesn’t require users to understand standard accounting procedures. Most transactions are recorded using on-line screens that closely resemble paper based forms such as invoices or checks.
Participants of RLC’s Beginning Quickbooks will learn about the types of information they need to track in their business and see how to enter that information for tracking it in QuickBooks. By the time the course is completed, students will have a good idea of all that QuickBooks offers. They will be familiar with the most common tasks and know where to find information about more advanced features.
The course will be held from 8 a.m. - noon on Tuesdays, Feb. 5 - 26 in room 338 at the RLC MarketPlace. It costs $109 and will be led by instructor Riley Barker.
