The Illinois Council for Continuing Education and Training (ICCET) is pleased to announce that Kathy Craig and Lori Ragland successfully completed the third ICCET Leadership Institute, "The Foundations of Leadership," held July 23-24, 2008 at the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB), Springfield, Illinois.
Both work at Rend Lake College. Craig is the Director of the RLC Center for Business Services and Ragland is Director of Community Education.
ICCET is a statewide professional development organization for community and continuing educators at Illinois public community colleges. The Leadership Institute is provided for the membership to help develop leadership skills necessary to be successful in their professional careers and for the development of future leaders for the organization and the community colleges.
The ICCET Leadership Institute provided relevant leadership philosophies and concepts including Value-Based Leadership; Management vs. Leadership; Leadership Traits & Styles; Creating a Culture of Leadership; Leadership and Ethics; and Motivation/Coaching/Listening.
This information-rich Institute was designed to give participants:
* The skills necessary to lead effectively in the workplace
* An understanding of the characteristics of good leadership
* The ability to develop strategies that will help individuals discover their own leadership style
* A mastery of skills necessary to resolve conflict and cope with institutional "politics".
The ICCET Leadership Institute was facilitated by Dr. Vickie Cook, University of Illinois at Springfield, Terri Winfree, Prairie State College, Cheryl Yount, Eastern Illinois University and Preston Morgan, Illinois Community College Board.
