Christopher-Rend Lake College presents the fall community education classes for the Christopher area.
Join your computer with your passion for scrapbooking in "Digital Scrapbooking!" In this two-session class instructed by Karla Lewis you will use a graphics-based program like Microsoft PowerPoint to create eye popping layouts with your favorite photos. You can add background music and graphics, as well. This program is probably on your computer already, if you are using Microsoft office, so after learning the techniques that the course provides you can have a blast digital scrapbooking at home too! If you do not have the program on your PC, don't worry. The pages can also be printed on cardstock or viewed on your computer as a slideshow! The class will meet on Thursdays, Sep. 18-Sep. 25 at the Christopher High School Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $18 and your instructor asks you to bring 25-50 digital photos on a CD or flash drive and a 1-2 gig high capacity flash drive to save your work. Students must be 14+ or accompanied by an adult.
Gaze through the RLC telescope and search for Pleiades Cluster, the majestic rings of Saturn, and Orion's Nebula. Sep. 22nd is Autumnal Equinox, a very significant day in astronomy, so what better day to hold RLC's "Astronight?" Come and join us on Monday, Sep. 22nd from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at Christopher High School Room 2 for an exciting evening of learning and enrichment. Our RLC instructor, Greg Hollmann, will point out additional bright stars and constellations. He will also capture our attention with stories of ancient mythology and modern science as it relates to the heavens. Be sure to dress according to the weather, as the evening will be spent outdoors. On the event of bad weather, our instructor will present an alternate indoor program. Boy Scouts attending this class will meet many of the requirements for the Astronomy merit badge. Participants 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The registration fee is $3.
