DOING WHAT THEY CAN - Students of Studio RLC, a Paul-Mitchell Partner School located at the Rend Lake College MarketPlace in Mt. Vernon, recently collected canned food items for the Summersville Baptist Church Food Pantry as part of their "Be Nice Or Else" campaign.
The theme was inspired by Paul Mitchell Schools Dean and Co-Founder Wynn Claybaugh and took local roots through student Melissa Bertschi, who found a community service project in her grandparents' church food pantry. Pictured (left) are her grandparents, Barbara and Harold Lemons, representing their church's food pantry.
Normal dress code for Studio RLC Students is black from head to toe. Students who brought in canned food items were rewarded not only with the satisfaction of helping their community but also the ability to wear color in their wardrobe.
According to the Lemons', the food pantry distributes pre-packaged bags of food on a first-come, first-served basis to local residents at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month.
