INA – Tickets are on sale for the Rend Lake College Spring Musical “Annie Get Your Gun.”
The play opens March 5 and runs through March 8 with performances at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and a final performance at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased, beginning Feb. 2, by calling the RLC Box Office at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1467. Visa, Mastercard and Discover are accepted.
“Annie Get Your Gun” is the true story of Annie Oakley (1860-1926), on the stage and bigger than life. Oakley was a sharpshooter from Ohio whose history was highlighted by an on-again, off-again romance with Frank Butler. Frank and Annie lead a crowd of compelling characters like Sioux Chief Sitting Bull, hotel owner Foster Wilson, the knife-wielding Tommy Keeler, Wild West Show owner Buffalo Bill Cody, show manager Charlie Davenport and more.
Webb went with the work of famous composer Irving Berlin to the hit the mark with audiences of her 32nd production at RLC. Songs from “Annie Get Your Gun” that became hits include “There’s No Business Like Show Business”, “Doin’ What Comes Natur’lly”, “You Can’t Get a Man with a Gun”, “They Say It’s Wonderful”, and “Anything You Can Do.”
As always, Webb has put together and ensemble cast littered with local talent. Emily Dixon of Pinckneyville will take the lead as Annie Oakley and Levi Overturf of Mt. Vernon is playing Frank Butler. Matt Howard of Benton will play Charlie Davenport, Jared Walker of Benton has been cast for the part of Colonel William F. Cody (Buffalo Bill), Derrick Wintermann of Ashley will return to the RLC stage as Chief Sitting Bull, Mr. T.L.C. Keeler and Wild Horse will be portrayed by Tyler Polley of Christopher, and Alexx Brewer of Mt. Vernon will play Major Gordon Lillie (Pawnee Bill).
Hobie Graham of Woodlawn will play Iron Tail, Yellow Foot will be played by Aaron Stroud of Sesser, Mac will be played by Troy Adams of Bonnie, and Eric Wakefield of Benton will play Foster Wilson.
Annie’s brother, Little Jake, will be played by Anthony Pierce of Tamaroa while sisters Nellie, Jessie and Minnie will be played by Lexy Knox of Woodlawn, Emmy Leigh Jay of Benton, and Chrystal Paige Brown of Ashley, respectively.
Other characters include Kassie Stroud of Sesser as Mrs. Little Horse and Mrs. Percy Ferguson; Brooke Erwin of Benton as Mrs. Black Tooth; Molly Wilson of Mt. Vernon as Mrs. Yellowfoot; Ray Green of Benton as the Porter and Mr. Clay; Justin McCoy of Mt. Vernon as the Waiter; Tank Junkins of Woodlawn as Pawnee’s Messenger and Mr. Schuyler, Katy Wegmann of Woodlawn as Mrs. Schuyler Adams, Wakefield as Dr. Percy Ferguson, Graham as Ernest Henderson, Molly Wilson of Mt. Vernon as Mrs. Ernest Henderson, Savannah Harrell of Opdyke as Mrs. Sylvia Potter-Porter, and Autumn Dixon of McLeansboro as the sixth girl, a squaw and a Society Lady.
