Rend Lake College announces its fall lineup of Community Education classes for the Benton area.
In "Simple Snacks for Kids", Nancy Gulley will teach kids how to make healthy, nutritious, simple, and tasty snacks using simple tools and ingredients found in the kitchen. Students must be six years of age or older or be accompanied by an adult. Students will explore the fun and creativity of cooking up nutritious snacks from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 24th, at Benton High School Room 109. Communication with the deaf through sign language is a rewarding skill for the hearing and also creates wider contacts for the deaf. Instructor Dawn Allen will use instruction and group activities to teach students basic American Sign Language, which will allow them to sign exact English and acquire an understanding of the culture of the hearing impaired. "Sign Language" is worth 1 credit hour (15 CPDUs) and is a great opportunity for teachers to learn the alphabet, colors, numbers and common items in the classroom. This class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday evenings from September 24th to October 29th at Benton High School Room 116. Registration is $79.
