LEGAL EAGLE - Local attorney Jeff Troutt speaks to students in their introduction to criminal justice class Tuesday at Rend Lake College. Troutt, 70, maintains offices in Benton and Christopher and has practiced law in Franklin County for 41 years. He earned his undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University in 1961 and his law degree from the University of Illinois School of Law in 1969.
Troutt outlined his education and career for the students, covering memorable cases and milestone experiences he has had so far. He was a school teacher for more than five years and spent four months working for the Central Intelligence Agency.
Troutt answered questions about the field, advocated hard work as the key ingredient to success, and urged students to give back to their communities.He has served his community of Christopher as a member of the high school board, Community Unit Board, city council and township trustees. He has been an active member of the Christopher Lions Club for more than four decades.
