INA, Ill. - Rend Lake College is excited to be offering two floral designing community education courses this fall semester.
In the first course, Floral Designing for Fall, instructors, Deana Baird and Jayma McGovern, will teach participants basic floral techniques to make a beautiful fall centerpiece just in time for Thanksgiving. This course will focus on arranging silk flowers. The instructors will explain the differences in silk versus live arrangements. Participants will also learn proper floral cutting. The registration fee for the class is $10. A $25 supply fee covers the cost of the materials for the centerpiece that will be made and brought home after class. The instructors also suggest students bring wire cutters and scissors to class. Floral Designing for Fall will be held Thursday, November 18 from 6-8pm in Room 354A at the RLC MarketPlace in Mt. Vernon.
In the second course, Floral Designing for Christmas, Baird and McGovern will cover more techniques to help participants make a beautiful centerpiece just in time for Christmas using fresh greens. Students will also learn how to make beautiful bows perfect for floral arrangements, gift wrapping, or a tree topper. The registration fee is $10. A $25 supply fee covers the cost of materials to make a centerpiece and a tree topper to bring home. Students are also asked to bring wire cutters and scissors to this class. Floral Designing for Christmas will be held Tuesday, December 7th from 6-8pm in the Historic Schoolhouse on the RLC main campus in Ina.
