With the addition of daytime classes this fall at the Rend Lake College MarketPlace in Mt. Vernon, local students will have more opportunities to receive a bachelor's degree from McKendree University, conveniently close to home.
The Accelerated Instruction with McKendree program, known as AiM, puts a bachelor's degree within easy reach. It is a completion program that includes 60 hours of McKendree coursework in addition to 68 hours of transferrable credits from Rend Lake College or another college or university. Students can receive a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in business administration, marketing or human resource management in 24 months.
"Having a bachelor's degree can allow for career advancement," said Melissa Meeker, assistant dean of student services for external programs at McKendree University. "We are excited to offer a daytime option in addition to the evening courses, which will continue."
AiM students attend class one day a week, currently on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at the RLC MarketPlace. Pending necessary minimum enrollment, day classes will be offered on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All eight-week courses combine face-to-face instruction with online assignments.
McKendree University has partnered with Rend Lake College to offer the AiM program at the RLC MarketPlace since the fall of 2005. AiM students and graduates cite the ability to work and complete their degree, convenience and McKendree's quality among the program's advantages.
