Art Associate Professor Melissa McClement-Engler said the show will be good for the students in more ways than only receiving a professional critique.

“We’re very proud of our students for all the hard work they’ve put in for this show,” she said. “We have already sold five pieces, so this isn’t just an opportunity for the students to compete and get feedback, but it’s also the first sell for some of them. Unlike art galleries, we negotiate for our students and take no commission. We just get the satisfaction that they’ve succeeded and we’re happy for them.”

A reception for the Student Art Show is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the awards presentation following. The show will remain in the Theatre Lobby until May 2. For more information about the Student Art Show, contact the RLC Liberal Arts Division at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1263.
