INA, IL (Jan. 11, 2022) – If you vowed to lose weight and get healthier in 2022, Rend Lake College has the challenge for you.
The annual REC the Scale Challenge at RLC returns to campus this January, and it is not too late to join in on the competition, which lasts 13 weeks and runs through April 8.
Anyone from the community is welcome to participate in an effort to reach their fitness goals in the New Year.

The contest costs $30 to enter, and participants will be allowed to use the Wayne Arnold Recreation Center during the length of the competition. A cash prize will be awarded to the person who loses the highest percentage of body weight. The total prize increases depending on how many participants enter in the competition. In the event of a tie, a one-week extension will be given to the tied contestants.

What To Know About REC the Scale competition
Weigh-ins: Weigh-ins are mandatory for the contest and they need to occur every other Friday at the REC. Each participant will have the opportunity to weigh-in a total of seven times. If a scheduling conflict arises for a weigh-in, participants are asked to notify the REC staff immediately to schedule another weigh-in time. The weigh-in dates are Jan. 21, Feb. 4, Feb. 18, March 4, March 18, April 1 and April 8.
Hours: The REC hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Your weight must be recorded during that time.
Do it right: Contest organizers encourage participants to observe healthy weight loss practices during the competition. That means proper food and water consumption throughout the contest. Rend Lake College staff members have the right to disqualify any participant for not following the rules of the REC the Scale Challenge. Participants are asked to abstain from dietary and hormone supplements, legal or illegal drugs (prescriptions by a physician are allowed), over-the-counter diuretic, laxatives for weight loss, cleanses or detox plans, starvation or very low-calorie diets (less than 800 calories a day), all forms of purging, weight loss surgery and devices such as sweat suits and saunas.
