The Veterinary Assistant certificate program prepares students for a rewarding career in caring for animals. This program can be completed in just one semester.

Veterinary assistants are an important part in the health care of pets and other animals with veterinary clinic appointments. Some responsibilities include feeding and bathing; managing and cleaning exam rooms; monitoring and caring for animals after surgery; and providing emergency first aid, among other duties.

With a veterinary assistant certificate, you can work in a variety of settings, including veterinary clinics, boarding kennels, groom salons, pet shops and animal shelters.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of veterinary assistants and laboratory animal caretakers is projected to increase by 14 percent over the next decade.
