INA, Ill. (March 3, 2020) — The best artwork by Rend Lake College students will be on display for the next several weeks following an opening reception on March 19.
The public is invited to attend the annual RLC Student Art Show and Reception, which will take place 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 19 in the Learning Resource Center Theatre Lobby. Hors d'oeuvres will be served from 6-7 p.m. and the award presentation will begin at 7 p.m. in the Theatre.
Prizes, scholarships and tuition waivers will be awarded to local high school and RLC students based on their submissions, and this year’s body of work features many exceptional pieces.
“This year’s show has the best student artwork I have ever seen produced at the college,” said Art Professor Melissa McClement-Engler.
Guest judging this year’s competition will be fantasy art illustrator Eric Velhagen. Velhagen’s work was recently featured at the college as part of RLC’s ongoing Visiting Artist Series. His artwork has been featured in a variety of publications, including the 2018 “Game of Thrones” calendar.
The student artwork featured in the RLC Student Art Show will be on display in the college until May 1. For more information on the event, contact Melissa McClement-Engler at 618-437-5321 Ext. 1718 or [email protected].
