SCHELLER, Ill. (Dec. 20, 2019) — It’s a battle of the pianos at Scheller Playhouse this February as Rend Lake College hosts a fundraiser to benefit Career and Technical Education programs.
Dueling Keys for CTE starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Scheller Playhouse, 4409 N. Scheller Lane, Scheller, Ill. A dinner buffet will be served from 6-7:30 p.m. followed by the dueling pianos from 8-11 p.m. The event will also have a silent auction and 50/50 drawing.
Tickets cost $30 per person or $50 per couple. The tickets can be purchased by contacting RLC’s Community and Corporate Education Division at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1714 or . Three different levels of sponsorship are available for purchase. A Bronze Level donation of $100 will get the donor's name in the program. A $250 donation qualifies for Silver Level, which will provide the donor with four tickets and have their name printed in the program. And a Gold Level donation costs $500 and includes eight tickets, reserved prime seating, the donor's name listed in the program and verbal recognition at the event.
Rend Lake College offers a wide array of CTE programs including (but not limited to) Agriculture, Veterinary Assistant, Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, Pharmacy Assistant, Phlebotomy, Radiologic Technology, Architecture, Automotive Technology, Computer Programming, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment, Industrial Electronics, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Office Systems Technology, Truck Driver Training, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, and Welding.
And there is a demand for these skills in the workforce. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates about 15.6 million new jobs will be available for CTE students between 2012 and 2022 along with more than 50 million total job openings.
