INA, Ill. (Aug.22, 2019) – Anyone interested in going back to school or continuing their higher education is invited to Rend Lake College’s Ina campus on Sept. 17 to participate in the Illinois Regional College Fair (IRCF).
IRCF is a free event that begins at 8 a.m. and runs until 10:30 a.m., in the RLC James “Hummer” Waugh Gymnasium. The morning will feature nearly 40 institutions, and parents, students, and community members will have the chance to meet with officials from those colleges and universities to learn more about them.
Vickie Schulte, Dean of Enrollment Services, said the event is open to high school students, RLC students intending to transfer, and anyone from the community who is interested.
“Evidence suggests that good planning and thorough research of options enhance the chances of a good match between the student and their post-secondary institution. We recommend you spend some time with your son or daughter prior to attending the fair and explore some of the reasons for continuing education after high school – a conversation with your child’s high school counselor would be a great way to prepare,” Schulte said.
Schulte said some important questions to keep in mind are about available majors at the institution, the admissions requirements and process, what the campus setting is like, and the cost of attendance and financial aid availability.
“Each representative at the fair will be eager to answer any and all questions they are asked,” added Schulte. “No matter where the student is in their educational journey, the fair is a great resource for fact-gathering.”
Below are the colleges and universities who have been confirmed for the fair at RLC, though more may be in attendance. The fair is sponsored by the Illinois Association of College Admission Counseling. Students may attend the event without a parent or guardian present.
