INA, Ill. (Dec. 13, 2018) – Make good on those New Year’s resolutions with a number of health and fitness offerings provided by Rend Lake College Community and Corporate Education.
Shake up 2019 with Pound. Led by instructor Shelby Counts, Pound is a sweat-dripping, heart-pumping, beat-dropping cardio jam session inspired by the infectious fun of drumming. Pound is a full-body workout that uniquely combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training. Pound can be modified for every rock star. The program will run from 4:45 – 5:45 p.m. on Thursdays from Jan. 3 to March 7 and will be taught in The REC, room 119. The cost of the class is $50.
If pounding the pounds away isn’t your thing, check out another workout program, Rumble. Also led by instructor Shelby Counts, Rumble is an authentic, yet simple to master, cardio mixed martial arts adapted for the group exercise environment! Rumble has been created for every body. No martial arts experience required, just a willingness to sweat, a desire to get an incredible workout, and the willingness to have fun along the way. The program will run from 6:15 – 7:15 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays from Jan. 7 to Feb. 6 and will be taught in The REC, room 119. The cost of the class is $50.
Exercise is only half the battle though, for those looking to shape up their eating habits there is Healthy Eating for All Ages. Most health experts recommend that you eat a balanced, healthy diet to maintain or to lose weight. Exactly what is a healthy diet? It means eating the right amount of the right foods to get the nutrients that you need to stay healthy. Join instructor Marty Wells to learn more about making healthy food choices. This class will be held from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Historic Schoolhouse on Rend Lake College’s Ina campus. The cost of the class will be $5.
Curious about essential oils, but feeling overwhelmed by all the options? Join instructor Katrina Cerutti as she discusses the basics of essential oils in All About Essential Oils. She will go through the four grades of oils and the differences in quality. You will also learn about carrier oils and the best ones to use for different skin types. She will even explain how to use and maintain a diffuser. Oil samples will be available. The class will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the Historic Schoolhouse on Rend Lake College’s Ina campus. The cost of the class will be $10.
After you’ve learned about oils for yourself, check out what they can do for your furry friend in Animals and Essential Oils. When used correctly, essential oils can be beneficial to dogs, cats, horses, and even birds. Join us as we discuss the safe way to use oils for your favorite animal companion. The class will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28 at the Historic Schoolhouse on Rend Lake College’s Ina campus. The cost of the class will be $10.
Previously known as Aerobics, Body Toning offers a full body conditioning and strengthening workout, improving functional strength, flexibility and coordination. It is also excellent for improving vital core strength. Strengthening and toning are an essential part of any fitness regime. In this class you will use free weights to help tone your body. All fitness levels are welcome. The class will run from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from Jan. 28 to April 24, except for 2/18, 3/11 and 3/14. Instructor Cathy Lamont will lead the class, and the cost of the class will be $69.
January’s health and wellness offerings are rounded out with Making Sense of Nutritional Labels. Join instructor Marty Wells as she helps participants find out how the nutrition label can help you make healthier food choices. At the end of this class, students will be able to make good nutritional choices that will enrich their lives. This class will be held from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at the Historic Schoolhouse on Rend Lake College’s Ina campus. The cost of the class is $5.
