MT. VERNON, Ill. (April 30, 2014) - Rend Lake College's Matt Greenfield (Hassocks, England) took second place individually last weekend at the RLC Invite, held at Green Hills Country Club in Mt. Vernon. The Warriors also finished second overall at 610 (304-306), two strokes back from winners John A. Logan.
Greenfield ended day one tied for ninth with four others at 76. He then scored the Invite two-day low of 67, putting his overall score of 143 one stroke behind individual winner Tanner McKinney of Mineral Community College at 142 (71-71).
Rend Lake's Dalton Korte (Metropolis) and Trenton Easley (West Frankfort) also finished in the top ten for the Warriors. Korte finished in seventh place with 149 (73-76) and Easley finished in tenth with 153 (77-76).
Teammates Blake Swofford (Vandalia) and Matt Williams (Mt. Vernon) tied in 11th with three other golfers with 154. Swofford was 73-81 to Williams' 76-78. Sophomore Dayton Jones (Hopkinsville, Ky.) came in 25th with a score of 159 (79-80), followed by Jesse Sanders (Benton) with 163 (80-83) and Gage Wetzel (Mattoon) with 165 (89-76).
Rounding it off for the Warriors was Travis Waninger at 166 (80-86) and Brett Mammenga (New Baden) at 176 (87-89).

The Warriors will travel to Bloomington next weekend to compete in the Regional Championship at Illinois State University Golf Course.
