POPULATION HEALTH PRIMER
Why having activity/ evidence: many barriers to the population focused health promotion influence by broad Socio economic and environmental determinants. Promotion strategies focused on population health would improve level awareness for healthcare professionals.
Evidence in the community is higher incidence of obesity, lower Socio economic and social conditions that influence southern Illinois and negatively impact the health of the population.
Target audience: nursing students and healthcare professionals in the surrounding community.
Intended outcome: awareness of heath determinants and how they affect the health of the community members. Awareness of available resources to assist in closing the loop.
Objective: define and describe concept of health, illness, and disease, and determinants of health and how they negatively impact our local community.
This program is being jointly provided between ICAHN and McKendree University Nursing Faculty, and though all tasks involved in planning and implementing this activity are shared, ICAHN as the approved provider unit, has maintained responsibility for key program elements.
Criteria for successful completion include attendance at the entire event and submission of a completed evaluation form. Partial credit will not be awarded.
There is no conflict of interest for anyone with the ability to control content of this activity.
ICAHN is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation
