LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Herrin High School graduate Kyle Hudson (2009) recently completed his collegiate baseball career at Division III Spalding University in Louisville, Ky., earning First Team All-Conference honors as a pitcher within the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
A senior, Hudson put together a 7-3 record this spring with a 2.49 earned-run-average. He recorded 72 strikeouts in 72 1/3 innings. Twice, he was named “Pitcher of the Week” in the conference. He was also selected Third Team All-Central Region, which consists of 38 teams from six states in the Midwest.
Hudson transferred to Spalding from Rend Lake College before his junior season last year and helped lead the Golden Eagles to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series championship in Springfield.
Over the last two years, Hudson compiled 12-6 overall record with a 2.42 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 129 2/3 innings. He did not allow a single home run during any of his starts.
As a team, Spalding won 65 games and lost only 23.
Hudson will graduate from Spalding in January with a degree in business administration.
He is the son of Scott and Mary Kay Hudson of Herrin.
