INA, Ill. (Feb. 11, 2015) – Pinckneyville Community High School (PCHS) softball standout Maddie Jones signed a national letter of intent earlier this week to play for the 2015-16 Rend Lake College team and Head Coach Dave Ellingsworth.

The PCHS senior is the daughter of Kevin and Marie Jones of Pinckneyville. She has a number of awards from her time as a panther, including earning the Best Defensive Player Award as a junior in 2014 as well as being named to the River-to-River Mississippi All-Conference second team last year.

Jones was also a key player on the Regional Championship panther team last year and the Conference Championship team in 2013. Outside of PCHS, Jones played for the Southern Express travel team for several years. Coach Ellingsworth says Jones will start the season at third for the Lady Warriors.

“Maddie is a very versatile infielder from Pinckneyville who came from a great high school program,” said Dave Ellingsworth, RLC Softball Head Coach. “She can play third base, shortstop, or second base, as well as outfield if she needed to. RLC is getting a great player, an excellent student, and a good citizen in Maddie, and I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to coach her.”
