CHEER & DANCE: RLC cheer and dance goes 1, 2, 3 at Cheer Limited Nationals

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Rend Lake College’s cheerleading and dance teams made some waves at Myrtle Beach by capturing first, second and third at the 2012 Cheer Limited Collegiate Nationals in South Carolina. The competition featured 35 colleges and universities from across the U.S.
“They gave 110 percent and I could not be more proud,” said Head Coach Nikki LaBuwi-Carollo.
Rend Lake cheerleading took first place in the stunt group competition. The group included Allie Turner (Woodlawn), Kasey Turner (Woodlawn), Alli Bozarth (Harrisburg), Harlie Eubanks (Waltonville) and Sierra Moore (Sesser).
RLC’s dance team took runner-up in the collegiate variety division, losing out to Lander University. Dance team members include captain Devin Wade (Herrin), Andrea Hernandez (Venezuela), Barbie Finstad (Anna), Dana Rone (Benton), Alexa Heumann (Benton) and Brandy Marchildon (Chester). LaBuwi-Carollo is assisted by Andi Isom.
Cheerleading finished third in the nation in the medium collegiate division, behind top finisher Indiana University and runner-up Newburry College. RLC’s cheer team is made up of captain Allie Turner, Kasey Turner, Bozarth, Eubanks, Moore, Taylor Cochrane (Sesser), Olivia Sledge (Mount Vernon), Kali Echols (Mount Vernon), Jordan Starr (Mount Vernon), Kaylyn Morris (Mount Vernon), Macie Minor (Pinckneyville), Melissa Kania (Pinckneyville), Ciara Kabat (Waltonville) and Justine Lamke (Waltonville). LaBuwi-Carollo is assisted in cheerleading by Lauren LaBuwi.
