WOMEN'S CENTER OF CARBONDALE PRESENTS "THE CLOTHESLINE PROJECT" ON RLC CAMPUS APRIL 11
The Clothesline Project, presented by The Women's Center of Carbondale, will be displayed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in the RLC Student Center.
The Clothesline Project is a visual display that allows survivors of sexual abuse, partner violence, and homophobia to break the silence that often surrounds these experiences. During the public display, a clothesline is hung with shirts. Each shirt is decorated to represent a particular person's experience either by victims or their friends or families.
Yellow shirts represent incidences of partner violence.
Red, pink, and orange shirts represent rape and sexual assault.
Blue and green shirts represent incidents of incest and sexual abuse.
Purple shirts represent attacks on a person because of their sexual orientation.
Black shirts represent attacks based on political reasons.
White shirts represent someone who has been killed as a result of gender violence.
