Why should I take the Compass Test? - To evaluate the student's educational abilities for advisement and placement in areas that are important in college: English, reading and mathematics.
Who must take the Compass Test? - All students who register for 12 credit hours or who enroll in a college credit mathematics or English course. Test results are valid for 5 years and can be taken twice after the beginning of the student's senior year. Students who already hold college degrees, students with special testing needs or students with other special testing considerations should contact test administrators prior to testing.
Who is exempt? - Students with the following ACT scores: ENGLISH = 20, READ = 20, MATH = 22
How many times can I test? Students may retest one time (either ASSET or Compass). The highest score will be used for placement.
Where should I test? Compass test is given in Administration Building Room 116. Testing is done by appointment only at 8:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. Monday-Friday.
What are the costs? Students are not charged a fee to take the Compass.
What should I bring? Your social security number and a calculator for the math placement.
Where do I go for additional practice? For additional practice you may use the ACT Assessment website:

Test Taking Tips - www.actstudent.org/testprep/tips
What are the tests like? Although testing is done on a computer, no computer experience is required. Directions are clearly stated, and help is available. Your test is highly individualized and tailored to your skill. There is no time limit. Most students complete the testing in about two hours. Scores are available as soon as testing is complete.
