Maintenance Technician


Job Description

Position Purpose: 

Assist in the performance of duties necessary to keep physical structure and equipment in good repair.  Duties may include: plumbing; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; repairing buildings and grounds.  This position includes mandatory on-call rotation and coverage for the hospital.  Individual must be able to respond to calls by being on location within 30 minutes. 

Shift:   Monday – Friday, 8a-4p day shift position, with rotating call schedule (Mandatory on-call rotation of maintenance coverage for the hospital.  Must be available to respond to calls by being on location within 30 minutes.)

Qualifications

Requirements: 

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 

LICENSURE:

Must have a valid driver’s license in the State of Illinois.

EXPERIENCE:

2 years of related experience in building maintenance and maintenance environment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to work with minimal supervision.  General tools, welding and carpentry skills.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Basic electricity, carpentry, plumbing, building repair, maintenance of sidewalks and grounds.

SPECIAL TRAINING:

Must know or be able to become proficient with computer software in a timely manner.

OTHER:

Knowledge of tractor and loader operations.  Ability to use proper body mechanics when

lifting, pushing, pulling and shoveling snow.

Job Description

Job Summary:

Supervises and coordinates the activities of distribution center employees by performing the following duties.
 

Job Responsibilities:
 

  • Supervises a group of team members in a designated department in a distribution center (DC).  Monitors team members’ productivity and work quality, and manages performance using the tools available including progress summaries, retraining, job performance assessment, performance improvement plan and other disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Leads team members in a designated department and performs daily team member functions, including but not limited to picking, stocking, loading, and receiving. Motivates team members’ performance for productivity and quality.
  • Promotes a safe environment as well as meets safety requirements complying with company policies and regulations set forth by Walgreens and various government agencies concerning safety, environmental handling of products, packaging and any other related items.
  • Monitors team members for compliance with Company policies, programs, procedures. Follows the guidelines of authorized, budgets, laws, and good business ethics. Ensures compliance with Safety Program requirements.
  • Mentors team members through on-the-job training. Performs new team member department orientation, including completion of training checklists. Assists with 15 minute Observe, Coach, and Recognize (OCRs) sessions, as necessary.
  • Creates a continuous improvement culture, actively participates in the LEAN initiatives in order to improve processes and continually drive out waste.
  • With management direction, establishes, builds and cultivates morale and engagement of team members. Encourages team member participation in workplace activities and events.
  • Recommends operational, and workforce activities and practices improvements to management, identifies necessary equipment and systems corrections within the area of responsibility.
  • Maintains good working relationships and cooperates actively with all levels and areas of management to ensure that the objectives of the department and company are met.
  • Communicates essential information to workforce to enforce divisional policies and guidelines.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 2 years of experience in leading team projects in a warehousing/manufacturing environment, or United States Armed Forces or equivalent experience demonstrating leadership skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.  
  • Willing to work rotating shifts.
  • Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships within a team.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree. 
  • Experience in indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other team members. 
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and training staff.

The job includes running a variety of errands, including light grocery shopping, ordering office supplies, handling business maintenance issues (calling right people, not actual maintenance!), making NetSuite entries, using Microsoft Office Suite daily, tracking shipments, stocking bathrooms and daily office and kitchen trash removal. Answering telephones well and handling calls in a professional and friendly manner is required.

We have a two story facility and schlepping things up and down stairs is part of the job. Lifting at least 50 lbs will be required as well. Gym membership not included!

Surgical Technologist / Central Service Technician


 

Job Description

Position Purpose:  The Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.  He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.  He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.  The Central Service Technician coordinates and maintains activities relating to the inspection, assembling, and packaging of surgical instruments and equipment and medical/surgical materials according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functional supply of materials.  Central Service Technician performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Education:       Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology.

Certification:   Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the NBSTSA preferred. 

Experience:     6 months – 1 year experience preferred, but not required.

Proficiencies:   Instrument and equipment recognition and proper preparation of instruments. Computer skills in a Windows environment.

Knowledge:    Aseptic techniques and infection control practices applicable to surgical procedures and processes.  Various medical supplies used in an acute care facility.  Sterilization and maintenance of surgical instruments. Medical terminology.  Gowning, scrubbing and gloving procedures.  Universal precautions for handling blood and body fluids.

Abilities:         Ability to assist doctors and nurses before, during and after a procedure or operation. Ability to anticipate the needs of staff in preparing and passing surgical materials during a procedure or operation.  Ability to operate equipment according to standards.  Assist in accounting for surgical instruments during a procedure of operation.  Report usages during procedures. 

Other:              Ability to stand for long periods of time and remain alert.

Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of inventory/merchandise movement by monitoring SIMS/AS-400 system applications.

  • Develops, reviews and recommends methods of operational improvement within their function area involving equipment, systems, corrections, activities and practices within their area’s responsibility.
  • Measures performance compliance and requirements and directs appropriate actions by team members and equipment to maintain performance at or above required levels. Maintains appropriate and required records for team members, equipment and KPI’s under their responsibility.
  • Manages department: budget, hours worked and assignments of work. Daily manages staffing needs for designated department: vacations, monitors turnover and volume.
  • Participates in team member concerns: reporting, follow up, investigating or disciplinary process.
  • Utilizes and updates system computer applications for proper operation and reports.
