In order for student to participate in the IL Drafting Educator’s Competition their teacher must sign them up via the IDEA Regional Competition Form. The Architectural Technology tuition waivers are awarded to the first place winners in the Architectural Board and CAD Divisions at the Illinois Drafting Educator’s Regional Competition-Site 18, which is held at Rend Lake College.

Must be pursuing a degree in Architectural Technology at RLC. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.

Art

Recruitment through student portfolio consisting of 3-5 design pieces demonstrating design, artistic and/or computer layout skills that will be evaluated by a panel of graphic   designers.  Two waivers awarded to two students who place in the top five of portfolio contest with consideration of high school GPA.

Must be enrolled in the Graphic Design program at RLC.  Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.

Heavy Equipment

Participation in Heavy Equipment and Diesel Technology contest at RLC. Written examination including parts and tools identification. Students will be required to identify parts relating to diesel equipment, air brakes, and steering components.

Must be enrolled in Agricultural Mechanics Heavy Equipment program at RLC.  Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.

Tech Prep

Student will complete an application form available from their high school counselor. Selection process completed on March 30, 2006.

Must enroll in the A.A.S. program corresponding to the high school Tech Prep Course of Study and remain in that specific program. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA.

Theatre 
Tuition Waiver/ Liberal Arts

Interested applicants should contact the Theatre Department. Audition required; must submit three letters of referral from former instructors or employers.

Actively involved with RLC Theatre productions. Must enroll and pass Practicum in Theatre (THEA 1102) and at least one other theatre course per semester (minimum of 6 credit hours in theatre courses). Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA.

Welding 
Tuition Waiver / Advanced Technology

Tuition waivers will be awarded based on the quality of welds completed during Rend Lake College’s annual welding contest.  Awarded to the top five welding contest participants.

Must be pursuing a certificate in the Welding Technology or Pipe Welding Technology at RLC.  Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.0 GPA. Must participate in Skills USA.
