INA, Ill. – The Lady Warriors’ first win of the season – 57-56 over McKendree University JV – came in dramatic fashion Wednesday night at Rend Lake College.
In her first game back from injury and with her team down seven points in the final 44 seconds, sophomore point guard Patrice Hutchinson (Indianapolis, Ind.) took over. The 5-1 gunner scored six while RLC’s defense kept the Lady Bearcats scoreless. The next trip down the floor, Hutchinson hit a floater from the right hand side to put the Lady Warriors up by a point. Hutchinson finished with 20 points.
RLC nearly let this one get away after leading by double figures most of the game and allowing the Bearcats to claw its way back by the three-minute mark.
The Lady Warriors, now 1-6, will head to Three Rivers Community College on Saturday. The final game of 2011 is at home against Illinois Central on Dec. 17. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
