Holstein opts not to seek contract renewal
Rend Lake College President Charley D. Holstein informed the RLC Board of Trustees Tuesday that he has decided not to seek renewal of his employment contract when it expires June 30, 2012. Holstein said it always has been his intent to serve the district and make a difference, and that it has been his pleasure to serve for the past four years as he looks toward other career opportunities. Board Chair Bryan Drew said the board appreciates everything that Holstein has done and that with the combined efforts of faculty, staff, administration and the Foundation Board the college is progressing well toward the future. Faculty Union Agreement approved
Approved the revision to the RLC Faculty Union Agreement which will be in effect until Aug. 10, 2013, effective immediately.
Schott joins RLC Foundation
Appointed Cynthia Schott as Assistant Director of the RLC Foundation effective Jan. 2. Schott holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in University Studies from Southeast Missouri State University and most recently served as administrative assistant for St. Augustine School in Kelso, Mo.
Officer Whisenhunt to fill new safety position
Created the position of Assistant Chief of Security - Safety Officer, approved the accompanying job description and appointed Sam Whisenhunt to that position effective Jan. 1. Whisenhunt currently serves as a police officer at RLC. According to administrative rationale, he has the training, experience and required credentials to fill this position. The position was created in order to comply with state and federal safety laws and to ensure campus safety.
Tennyson named temporary full-time OFTC instructor
Employed Lynndi Tennyson as temporary full-time Office Systems Technology Instructor for the Spring 2012 semester. Tennyson previously has been employed in this capacity and is familiar with the curriculum and courses.
Darby Printing gets catalog bid
Accepted the low bid of $7,199 from Darby Printing Co. of Atlanta, Ga., for production of the 2012-2013 RLC Catalog. Darby was the lowest of 11 bids received. In a related action, the board approved the RLC Catalog as presented.
Tackitt moving on
Accepted with regret the resignation of Sheila Tackitt, Executive Assistant to the President, effective Oct. 31.

o Approved a new course, Information in Society, and authorized its submission to the Illinois Community College Board for action.
o Approved the schedule of meetings of the RLC Board of Trustees for the 2012 calendar year.
o Approved revisions to board policy and procedure concerning tuition waivers and collection of student fees and debts.
