INA, Ill. (Aug. 22, 2013) – For youth needing an after-school or weekend activity, and who want to improve upon their education and skills, two Community and Corporate Education workshops are available through Rend Lake College.
High school juniors and seniors are invited to prepare for the ACT test with the ACT Prep workshop, which is held on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. Sept. 7 through Oct. 12 at the RLC MarketPlace, Room 203 in Mt. Vernon. Instructor Larry Journey will teach reading, English, science, math and test-taking skills. The course will cost $75, with an additional cost of $20.22 for the Barron’s ACT 17th Edition textbook.
A Girls Volleyball workshop will be held for girls in 4th through 6th grades to teach the fundamentals and skills of the sport. The cost of the course is $40 and it will be taught by April McCormick. Class times are from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting Sept. 17 through Sept. 26 at the McLeansboro Junior High Gymnasium.
Other workshops open to youth participation include Etiquette Dinner, Horse Whispering (ages 16 and older), Me & My Buddy Cookie Decorating, Martial Arts and Principles of Street Rodding I and II (ages 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult).
