Rend Lake College students are invited to an afternoon of food, games, sports and the chance to win an iPod with Fun Fest 2005, set for noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, on the Ina campus.
There will be a cookout from noon to 1 p.m., where students can enjoy free chicken, bratwurst and hot dogs and cool down with a snow cone. The Carbondale-based band Majnun (majnunband.com) will perform live during the event. Activities will include a karaoke contest, horseback rides and a family T-shirt stand, at which students can have their pictures taken and placed on a picture of a celebrity. The shirts are free.
For the more sports-oriented student, there will be a volleyball tournament on the sand court and extreme dodge ball in the gymnasium. A billiards tournament also will be held.
Other activities will include an inflatable rock wall, a “Bouncy Boxing” cage and a bungee run. Dr. Sue Tomlin will be reading palms, Associate Massage Therapy Professor Mike Adamson and his students will provide free massages and a drawing will be held in which two lucky students will win iPods.
Although not confirmed, there may be a style show with Studio RLC’s Cosmetology students and a performance by the college’s new Dance Team.
Classes on-campus and at the Murphy-Wall Pinckneyville Campus will be cancelled between noon and 4 p.m. Classes at the RLC MarketPlace in Mt. Vernon will meet as scheduled.
