The Rend Lake College Foundation Children’s Center had the hearts of the young victims of Hurricane Katrina in mind during a recent collection drive aimed at meeting the needs of children. “This is a great way to teach our children how to help others in need. It is a great opportunity for us as a school and community to come together and send a little happiness to the young victims on the Gulf Coast,” according to Children’s Center officials. Items collected included coloring books, crayons, games, baby wipes, diapers, bottles, clothes and various other supplies. The items were sent to the Salvation Army for distribution.
