Some of Rend Lake College’s Child Psychology students are organizing a lunch to raise funds for a special project in honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month. Blue bracelets to celebrate awareness also will be for sale.
The lunch will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in the Aquatics Center lobby on the Ina campus. Lunch is $3 and includes a grilled hot dog, chips, a soft drink and dessert. The money raised will be used to purchase suitcases for foster children who have nothing in which to carry their personal possessions.
The Rend Lake College Foundation is making a generous contribution by matching the funds raised.
“The students came up with the idea on their own and I think it’s a wonderful cause,” said Psychology Associate Professor Jeannie Mitchell-Collins.
