Participants in Rend Lake College’s Music program certainly are in demand.
This year, the program has featured a brass ensemble, stage band, instrumental soloists and vocalists, according to Julie Wilkerson, Associate Music Professor.
"We have been very fortunate to have several students with a tremendous amount of musical talent. They have been true musicians," Wilkerson said.
RLC’s musicians have been busy performing at numerous college functions, including the Rend Lake College Foundation Annual Dinner, Elderhostel programs, Tech-Prep Day, Homecoming and the Taste of Rend Lake/Students for Students Art Auction event. Some of these students took part in the annual spring musical, either on stage or in the pit orchestra.
This May, the musicians will play at the Rend Lake College Commencement ceremony.
In addition to the performing ensembles and soloists, RLC’s Community Education Program has joined with the Music Program to offer youth music activities, including a Suzuki violin program, Kindermusik and after-school programs. This summer, the college will begin a series of music offerings for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
This year’s music ensemble participants include:
**Benton -- Jim Baine, Caleb Johnson, Emily Milton and Keith Sneed;
