MT. VERNON – Two computer classes aimed at getting users on the accelerated path to mastering Microsoft Word and QuickBooks are coming up soon in Mt. Vernon. Both are offered through the Institute of Lifelong Learning at Rend Lake College.
“Beginning Microsoft Word” will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, in Room 338 at the RLC MarketPlace in Mt. Vernon. Participants will learn how to create, edit and format a Microsoft Word document; use Word’s writing tools; and find out about additional features with this software program. The cost of this one-day course is $74.50.
“Beginning QuickBooks” is a four-session course that meets from 5:30-9:30 p.m. each Thursday, Sept. 27 thru Oct. 11, in Room 338 of the RLC MarketPlace. The fourth session of Beginning QuickBooks will be on a date to be determined and will involve individualized instruction between each student and the instructor.
QuickBooks is an accounting software program used in personal or small business financial management and bookkeeping. Topics covered will include setting up QuickBooks, working with lists, working with bank accounts, using other accounts in QuickBooks, entering sales information, receiving payments and making deposits, encountering and paying bills, analyzing financial data, setting up inventory, tracking and paying sales tax, doing payroll with QuickBooks, estimating and progress invoicing, tracking time, customizing forms, and writing QuickBooks letters. The cost of this four-session course is $109.
