INA - Fiction writer Jacinda Townsend will be in the area reading from her work tomorrow at noon. The reading will be upstairs in the LRC at Rend Lake College.
Townsend, the 2003-04 Carol Houck Smith fiction fellow at the Wisconsin Institute of Creative Writing and a 2002 Hurston Wright Award finalist, has published in numerous literary magazines such as African Voices, Carve Magazine, The Maryland Review, Moon City Review, Obsidian II, Passages North, Phoebe, Struggle and Xavier Review.
"I just had the pleasure of hearing Jacinda read at the Devil's Kitchen Literary Festival, and she was wonderful," said RLC English Literature Associate Professor Peggy Davis.
Townsend's work has been anthologized in Surreal South, O. Henry Festival Stories 2000 and Telling Stories: Fiction by Kentucky Feminists. A former Fulbright fellow to Cote dIvoire and graduate of both Harvard University and the Iowa Writers Workshop, she teaches at Southern Illinois University.
