Rend Lake College will help teacher assistants meet the guidelines of the No Child Left Behind Act with an assessment course offered through the Center for Business Services.
The assessment -- the Work Keys Proficiency Certificate -- meets the requirements of the NCLBA, which is federal legislation.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, No Child Left Behind allows teachers’ aides to facilitate instruction if they meet standards of quality through a formal state or local assessment, such as RLC’s Work Keys Proficiency Certificate, or if they have at least an associate’s degree or two years of college.
The fee for the assessment is $40. For more information on dates for the assessment or to register, contact Laura Kern, Center for Business Services Coordinator, at (618) 437-5321, Ext. 1353, or Ed Ruffino, Director of the Center for Business Services, at Ext. 1354.
