BENTON - Rend Lake College announces the Fall Community Education classes being offered in Benton.
Enjoy antiques? Why not learn more by taking "Introduction to Antiques?" The first session will be held at Benton High School. The remaining classes will be held in various antique stores in Benton to give students an opportunity to view and discuss a wide variety of items. Many items will be discussed, such as mining, toys, glassware, furniture, clothing, etc. This course is for anyone interested in antiques who would appreciate a better understanding of the subject. The class will meet on Tuesdays, from Oct. 7-Oct. 28 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Benton High School room 103. The instructor will be Roger Edwards and the registration fee is $32.
A dozen months….a dozen works of art! Come and join us in "Scrappin' & Stampin' Gift Calendar!" In this course, you will combine the arts of scrapbooking with stamping to create a calendar to store birth dates and anniversaries that you can use each and every year! That means no more copying these important dates from one calendar to the next! This would make a great holiday gift or you may just have to keep it for yourself! The class will meet on Saturday, Nov. 11th from 10:00 a.m.-noon at The Buzz. The registration fee is $10 plus an additional $15 payable to the instructor, Lori Ragland, in class.
Learn the art of decorative "Tole Painting!" Don't worry, this class is for beginners as well as experienced decorative painters. Our instructor, Virginia McCann, will teach us basic techniques, combination strokes, insider tips, and more! Students will even complete their very own masterpiece to bring home at the end of class. Registration is $32 and supplies will be handed out the first night of class, with an approximate supply fee of $15 payable to the instructor. This course will meet on Thursdays, Oct. 2-Oct. 23 from 6:30-8:30p.m. Don't let this creative opportunity pass you by!
