(MT. VERNON, PINCKNEYVILLE) 02/17 -- The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Rend Lake College will be presenting the FREE workshop "How to start your Business in Illinois."
Co-sponsored by the Illinois Entrepreneurship Network, Rend Lake College and the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce; this three-hour seminar covers the basic requirements of starting your own business including legal structure, startup requirements, finding financing, and business planning.
Topics covered will include:
- How to register a business name
- Where to get a tax ID number
- Licenses & permits
- What legal form to choose (proprietorship, partnership, corporation)
- Sales taxes
- Estimated quarterly income tax
- Employee taxes
- Financing your business
- Preparing a business plan
- Federal, State, City and County Requirements
- Legal Structure
The workshops are being offered at two separate locations on different days. The first is with SBDC Director Curt Mowrer from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 21, in Room 338 at the Rend Lake College Marketplace in Mt. Vernon. The second will take place with SBDC Assistant Director Nick LeMay from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 28, in Room 102 at the RLC Murphy-Wall Pinckneyville Campus.
