LAS VEGAS – Rend Lake College student Danielle Weinhoffer of Pinckneyville finished 13th out of 257 students from across the country at the Association of Collegiate Educators in Radiologic Technology 2009 National Conference recently in Las Vegas.
Weinhoffer answered radiology-related questions in the Student Challenge portion of the conference. Kim Robert, Director of the Radiologic Technology program at RLC, co-sponsored the student outing with RLC Clinical Coordinator Joan Laughhunn and their assistant, Brian Robinson.
Overall, eight students took the trip with Robert, Laughhunn and Robinson. With the RLC radiology program in its second year of existence, this marks the first time RLC students have attended the conference. Robert said it will not be the last.
The three-day ACERT National Conference features workshops for educators and students. She said additional career-focused opportunities are around the corner for her students as well, the first being a type of scholar bowl event centered around radiologic technology in Springfield.
